SPECIAL MEETING ON RE-EVALUATION

AND ASSESSMENTS

FEBRUARY 16, 2010

There was a special meeting held on Monday, February 16, 2010 at 6:00 P.M. with the Clermont Town Board, New York State Office of Real Property Services, Columbia County Real Property, Town Assessor and members of the Clermont Board of Assessment Review.

Those present were Supervisor Raymond Staats, Councilman Robert Desmond, Councilman Richard Jones, Councilwoman Dianne O’Neal, Assessor Henry Greenhouse, Robert Aiken, Regional Manager, Alison Dooley, Customer Relations Manager with ORPS and Judy Bender, Deputy Director, Columbia County Real Property, John Gall, Chairman BAR, John Halterman and Ripley Hathaway, BAR members. There were ten residents present.

The discussion centered on the Assessment Notification, which is required by law to be sent out to residents. This notification will be sent out on or about March 1st. The letter sent with the notification will state that any resident who has questions about the assessment can contact the Assessor to set up an appointment to meet with him between March 25th and April 15th. The tentative assessment roll will be out on May 1st. The next step is the grievance process. Information is available for filing a grievance at the Town Hall. Grievance Day is Tuesday May 25th. Times will be announced.

This informal meeting was followed by a public information session at 7:00 P.M. to explain this process.

Respectfully submitted,

Mary Helen Shannon, RMC

Town Clerk
