Clermont Web Site Committee
Minutes for meeting April 15, 2008

Committee Members attending: Stephen Hammer, Chair, Bram Moreinis, Mary Shannon, Dianne
O'Neal, Judy Neary.
Members of the public attending: Carol Lent, Elizabeth ??????????

Facilitator: Bram Moreinis; Secretary, Dianne O'Neal; Timekeeper: Stephen Hammer.

Webmaster report:
state of the current web site: Stephen Hammer reported that for now, Valstar is our
host, the site has been cleaned up, broken links are fixed, missing minutes are now there. Other things
that are in play are using as our ?????, and switching to Bluehost from Valstar, at a cost of $160/2 yrs.
(this switch has been approved by the Board). With these basic mechanics either taken care of or
planned, we now have to figure out what people want from the site. SH is looking for guidance from
the Committee.

What is the web site for? The following were mentioned as ‘things heard from residents: timely
announcement of meetings, minutes, meeting dates, zoning ordinance, official documents, news
bulletins, FAQ’s, Bulletin Board, ‘news page’, an announcement Listserv, assessments, Dog Warden
lost dog site. The Committee’s vision included: a forum, an on line Town meeting, local stores, farm
stands, a business directory, a quarterly newsletter, “Ask the Council”. It was considered desirable to
have the web site simpler, user friendly, and hierarchical in organization.

What is the committee for? Monthly meetings, considering ideas and possibilities, Dianne O’Neal is
the Board liaison who will report back to the Town Board.

Corrections and comments on the current web site Needs to be easier to use, discussed posting
alternatives, archive, how to generate content, Kerry in Rhinebeck has been researching email
archiving/retention.

How should the web site be improved? Conversion to Drupal, transfer to Bluehost (has been
approved and budgeted by Council).
Planning forms – liaison with PB is required.
Graphical overhaul – Dianne O'Neal will talk to Louise Kalin about design.
Other IT questions – are they in the scope of this committee
Town official e-mail addresses: might be useful
E-mail retention and archiving: will ask Andy Howard

Tentative next meeting date: May 21 [LOOKS LIKE THIS WILL NOT WORK DUE TO
SPECIAL TOWN BOARD MEETING].
