Councilwoman Dianne O'Neal has submitted a draft 'Statement of Purpose' for the

The Town Board is considering adopting a local law which provides a private property tax exemption for volunteer firefighters and volunteer ambulance workers. This exemption would provide an exemption of up to ten percent of the assessed value of their residential property for tax purposes. The complete copy of the proposed local law is available for review at the Town Clerks office during regular business hours. The public hearing on the Local Law will be held on Monday, October 6, 2008 at 7:00 P.M. prior to the Town Board meeting.

CELL PHONES FOR SOLDIERS
In cooperation with Senator Steven Saland's office, the Town Clerk will be collecting old cell phones, which will be turned in for prepaid calling cards for U.S. Troops stationed overseas. If you have any old cell phones, please drop them off at the Town Hall, Thursday evenines 6-8 P.M. or Saturdays, 10 AM - 12 PM.

New York State Energy Assistance Program (HEAP)
Supervisor Ray Staats and Town Board member Dianne O'Neal attended a meeting in June to discuss the rising cost of home heating and learned about several government programs that are available to help low-income and senior residents with the bills. The Clermont Town Board is always seeking interested town residents to serve
on a volunteer basis on town committees.
